Are Belly Button Rings Trashy?
Posted by Melissa Morganite on
Are belly button rings trashy? Obviously not! Some of the most beautiful (and powerful) women in the world adorn their navels with belly button rings (e.g. Beyonce, Rihanna, the Kardashian sisters, countless super models, etc.). This outdated attitude comes from the late 80s/early 90s when navel piercings were just starting to get really popular.
Belly Button Rings: Trashy or Cute?
Fortunately, the belly button ring market has exploded since the 80s/90s and there is a HUGE number of brands out there making really cool designs. BUT, there is also an insanely high number of trashy designers too.
How can you tell if a brand is trashy or not?
High quality belly button ring brands (like TummyToys) only use 100% solid precious and semi-precious metals in their designs (i.e. gold, silver, platinum, steel, etc.). Trashy belly button ring companies use filled/plated materials in their designs, and use alloys rather than solid metals. These all lead to deteriorated quality levels and a sub-par belly button ring. They also sell their products for cheap, because that's precisely what their belly rings are: cheap.
